Lee Scores 14 in Collegiate Basketball Invitational All-Star Game

WADSWORTH, Ohio - Buff Basketball All-American Robert Lee made 5-of-12 shots from the field to finish second on the West All-Star team in scoring with 14 points during the All-Star game of the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational, played before a live ESPNU national audience. The Fort Worth, Texas, native also pulled down four rebounds in the contest. With a game-high 17 points and five rebounds, Sean Barnette of Wingate was named the East All-Star Most Valuable Player as he led his team to a 107-85 win. Helping Barnette in the win was Plattsburgh St's Anthony Williams with 16 points, while Devario Hudson of Valdosta St. pumped in 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Others scoring in double figures for the East was Pikeville's Jeff Ferguson with 14 points and Steve Dagostino of St. Rose with 10 points. Dagostino also pulled down seven rebounds and dished out four assists. Leading the East in rebounds was Jeremy Black of Tampa has he had 10 boards. Leading the way for the West was Cory Abercrombie of Pittsburg St. as he was named the MVP of his squad after he registered a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Oklahoma City's Willie Irick scored 14 points. Rounding the double figure scorers for the West was Othyus Jeffers of Robert Morris (Ill.) with 11 points and Callistus Eziukwu of Grand Valley St. and Matt Hall of Harding both scoring 10 points apiece. The Collegiate Basketball Invitational is a major national basketball event that gathers the finest 64 senior men's basketball players from all of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and Division III and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I and Division II. The event took place at Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, Ohio, and each team had eight players in eight-team bracket. Six games were played both Thursday and Friday. The CBI concluded with the all-star game. In three games at the event prior to Saturday's All-Star game, Lee averaged 12 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest while competing against top players from across the nation. The Fort Worth, Texas, native, playing for the City of Wadsworth team, narrowly missed a double-double during play on Thursday, contributing 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field to go along with nine rebounds. His solid play continued on Saturday as he made 7-of-14 field goal attempts to produce 14 points and eight rebounds during the tournament's third place game. For his efforts on the court during the invitational, Lee was one of only 20 players selected to the CBI All-Star game.
