Buff Golf Team Ends LSC Championships in 10th Place

THACKERVILLE, Okla. - The West Texas A&M men's golf team finished in 10th place at the 2008 Lone Star Conference Men's Golf Championships but with a 5-under final round, Cameron ran away with the team title as play concluded at WinStar Golf Course.

At 9-under, the Aggies (288-284-283=855) earned its sixth conference championship and first since 2004 ending Northeastern State's reign over the last three years.

For the Buffs, Geoff Phemister (78-76-70=224) finished in 34th place, just one shot up on teammate Colin Cruz (73-77-75=225), who earned a tie for 36th place.

WT's Brandon Holub (79-75-72=230) ended play in a tie for 40th place, while teammates Roy Holdeman (75-78-77=230) and Jon Musser (77-76-77=230) both finished in a tie for 45th places.

The RiverHawks and Abilene Christian finished tied for second with a 1-under 863 in the team standings, while Central Oklahoma (865) was fourth.

Texas A&M-Commerce's Pinky Hartline edged NSU's Jeff Cox (210) and CU's Peter Svajlen (210) for individual medalist honors with a 7-under par 71 on the day and a 209 total.

The men's all-tournament team included Hartline, Cox, Svajlen, ACU's Cyril Buoniol, UCO's Zach Cleland and CU's Cane Shumaker.
