West Texas A&M to Host NCAA-II Midwest Regional Soccer Tournament



West Texas A&M beat Midwestern State in its regular season finale as both teams became Southwest Soccer Conference Co-Champions

CANYON, Texas - For the first time in six years, the West Texas A&M men's soccer team has won the right to host the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament which will take place at The Pitch on Nov. 8-10. After beating Midwest Region and Southwest Soccer Conference rival Midwestern State on Sunday, the Buffaloes earned the No. 1 seed in the four-team tournament.

Additionally, West Texas A&M became SSC Co-Champions as the Buffs finished the regular season with an overall record of 16-2 and a 7-1 record in SSC play; MSU also finished with a 7-1 conference mark to earn a share of the conference title.

Midwestern State (16-3, 7-1 SSC) is the second seed and will face third-seeded Metro State (16-2-3) in the opening round at Noon on Thursday. Following the conclusion of the opening match, WTAMU is slated to play fourth-seeded RMAC Champion Ft. Lewis (15-5-1) at 2:30 p.m.

The winners of each regional semi-final match will square off in the Midwest Regional Final on Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner of the final will advance to the NCAA-II Quarterfinals which will be played on Nov. 17 or Nov. 18.

Tickets will be available at the ticket gate next to the residential living building an hour prior to kick-off. Adult tickets are $6, student tickets are $3 and tickets for children 12-years old and under are $2.
