General: Velazquez is a returnee who brings agility and speed to the Buffs.

2007: The West Texas A&M men's cross country team finished 8th in the Lone Star Conference Championships in Commerce on Oct. 20. He finished 33^rd with a run of 28:22.07. Velazquez competed in the Texas Tech Invitational on Sept. 17 in Lubbock. He finished the five mile run in 27:14.80. Velazquez competed in the WTAMU Buffalo Stampede which took place at the WTAMU Horse Center in Canyon on Aug. 31. He finished 17^th with a run of 22:38.

2006: The West Texas A&M women's and men's cross country teams competed on Saturday in the NCAA-II South Central Regional meet in Warrensburg, Mo. on Nov. 6. He finished 72^nd with a run of 35:28.80. Velazquez competed in the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 30 in Stillwater, Okla. He finished 55^th with a run of 28:07.

2005: The West Texas A&M University men's cross country team finished eighth-place at the Lone Star Conference Championships at Weatherford, Okla., hosted by Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Prairie West Golf Course on Oct. 22. Velazquez was the Buffs' top finisher placing 31^st with a time of 28:52 over the 8K course. The West Texas A&M University men's cross country team finished in fifth-place at the Angelo State University Blue & Gold Classic, held at the San Angelo Regional Airport course at San Angelo on Oct. 11. Velazquez finished 22nd with a run of 30:14. Velazquez competed in the New Mexico Highlands University Invitational at Las Vegas, N.M. on Sept. 24. He was WTAMU's top runner for the second week in a row, finishing 21^st with a time of 27:51 over the 8K course. The West Texas A&M University men's cross country team finished ninth at the New Mexico State University Kachina Classic at the NMSU Golf Course at Las Cruces, N.M. on Sept. 17. Velazquez was WTAMU's top runner, finishing in 39^th with a time of 26:05 over the 7,400 meter course.

High School: Velazquez attended Hereford High where he ran for coach Ray Baca. He was a state qualifier in track. Velazquez lettered for three years in track.
