West Texas A&M Men's Cross Country Runs Well in Texas Tech Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - The West Texas A&M men's cross country team had four Buffs run strongly in the Texas Tech Invitational on Friday evening. In the five mile run, Hereford natives Jose Velazquez and Jose Huerta finished in finished in 27:14.80 and 27:29.50, respectively, Caprock HS alum Thomas Harris finished in 28:01.80, and Isai Saucedo finished in 29:15.20. Erik Huerta ran unattached and finished in 29:29.20.

The women's cross country team finished fourth overall with 111 total points at the invitational. Kristie Hartsfield finished the three mile run in 18:40.00, placing fifteenth and garnering 13 points for the Lady Buffs, while Mariana Chavira (19:03.50, 21 points) and Belinda Castanon (19:13.70, 22 points) came in 23rd and 24th, respectively.

Other point scorers for the women were Becca Rapstine (19:25.20, 25 points), Delinda Hilla (20:07.70, 30 points), Sharen Diggs (20:25.60, 37 points) and Chelsi Ruiz (20:39.70, 39 points). Dorane Young finished in 21:02.70.
