Lady Buff Golfers Finish in Fourth Place at LSC Championships

Thackerville, Okla. - Sophomore Whitney Osborne fired a one-under round of 71 on Tuesday to finish in sixth place individually as the West Texas A&M women's golf team wrapped up play at the 2008 Lone Start Conference Women's Golf Championships. As a team, the Lady Buffs ended play in fourth place at the event, which was held at WinStar Golf Course. Tarleton State continued its remarkable 2008 season with their ninth tournament title. The TexAnns won their second conference title after winning the tournament in 2003 as well. Sophomore Andrea Lowe led the TSU effort and finished third with a three-over par 147. Shraddhanjali Singh (t-4th), Carla Cooper (t-7th), Melanie Tham (t-9th) and Maury Shock (t-13th) contributed to the TexAnns efforts, which included rebounding from eight-over par after the first four holes of play in round one to card a 26-over 602 (302-300). Northeastern State senior Courtney Epps was the medalist at even par after shooting an impressive 69 in the final round, while the RiverHawks Stephanie Bird finished second at two-over par. Central Oklahoma's Raelynn Farthing tied for fourth with a four-over par 148. WT's Lacy Torbert (81-83=164) and Mollie Peterson (84-80=164) each tied for 20th place, while teammates Kaylee Zaiontz (85-81=166) and Stephanie Boldger (83-84=167), finished in 23 and 24h places respectively. |
