Lady Buff Softball Add Houston Area Standout

CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M softball coach Kevin Blaskowski has announced the signing of catcher/first baseman Emily Jacobs, from Cypress Creek High School in Houston, Texas, to a national letter-of-intent to play for the Lady Buffs in the 2008-09 academic year. Jacobs, who ranks in the top five in numerous offensive categories in District 17-5A, has helped lead Cypress Creek to a 21-7 overall record and an 11-3 district mark this season. This season, Jacobs is hitting .442 which ranks her fifth in the district. She leads the district with 38 hits and 10 doubles. She is second with 29 RBI's and two home runs. "Emily is a very talented softball player," said Blaskowski. "She possesses very good offensive skills and she has the ability to play numerous defensive positions. I look for her to step in and contribute as a freshman and I look for a lot of great things from her during her career." Jacobs plays travel softball for the Cy-Fair Intruders Gold and is the daughter of David and Lori Jacobs. She plans on majoring in education. Jacobs and Kimberly LeComte (Boerne) are the Lady Buffs addition during the spring signing period. They join Courtney Ford (Bryan), Kristina Myles (Southlake Carroll) and Marci Womack (Sulphur Springs) who signed letters of intent during the fall signing period. The Lady Buffs expect to add possibly two more signees during the spring period. |
