Setter Katie Rickwartz Garners AVCA All-America Honors

CANYON, Texas - Sophomore setter Katie Rickwartz continues to collect accolades for her outstanding performance on the volleyball court this year as she has earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Honorable Mention All-America status, announced Monday.

A local product from Canyon, Texas, Rickwartz has already gathered AVCA and Daktronics All-Southwest Region recognition in addition to being named First Team All-Lone Star Conference and LSC Co-Setter of the Year. This season, Rickwartz led both the Lady Buffs and the entire LSC in assists with 1788, and assists per game with 12.96, as well as finishing second on the squad in digs with 396. She also has recorded 118 kills and 61 total blocks.

West Texas A&M travels to Topeka, Kan. for the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Division II playoffs on Nov. 29, hosted by Washburn. The Lady Buffs, ranked No. 8, will face No. 5 Grand Valley State in the quarterfinal match.
